Paul Ryan’s Plan to Destroy Medicare

As an opening salvo from Republicans in the 2012 budget debate, the plan offered by Wisconsin’s Paul Ryan—supposedly a model of “seriousness” and “courage” next to overzealous Tea Partiers and Democrats silly enough to want to keep the government minimally functional—is remarkable mostly for its cynicism.

New Florida Health Insurance Plan

Florida Senators are constructing a Medicaid reform plan that would move most of the programs 3 million patients into private HMO health insurance plans. The reform plan as it is being discussed, would also dental coverage and vision coverage.
The reform plan is necessary because the Medicaid budget is spiraling out of control, currently costing about $20 Billion annually of 1/3 of the state budget.

Dean Health Plan

According to the Dean Health Plan website, Dean Clinic has officially become the first healthcare organization in the country to offer mobile access to Epic-based medical records with an unique iPhone application. It’s called the MyChart application and it’s been designed for users of Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and the iPod Touch.
D.J. Curran, Dean Clinic Project Manager believes this is a very useful tool for their patients. The app offers fast, secure, and easy access to the most common features of the MyChart. This may change the way people work with their individual health insurance carriers if other health plans follow this trend, which they very well may.

Pennsylvania Insurer Wants Health Insurance Plan Rate Hikes

As of January 1st, your health insurance plan could become more expensive if you live in certain regions of Pennsylvania.
Blue Cross of Northeast Pennsylvania wants up to $10 million worth of premium hikes. For now, eight plans would be affected, including those targeted towards lower-income individuals–including a guaranteed issue policy for the recently unemployed. Some of the plans are subsidized. <
