Clean up your Business
Posted on September 24th, 2011
Ensuring that your work space is clean and organized can have great results, such as boosting staff productivity, improving mental clarity and focus, and inspiring a positive outlook.
But where do you start? Getting started is often the hardest part. Start small and clean off your own work space. Purge your rolodex or outlook contacts, your filing system, and your desk drawers. Do one thing every day to get you more organized.
You can even make it a company policy for employees to clean off their desks each Friday before they leave for the weekend. This makes for a more organized office, and first thing Monday morning, your staff is working and not sorting out last week’s messes.
If you have a lot of unused equipment, such as monitors or printers, donate them to a non-profit or other worthwhile agency. You can get rid of old furniture in much the same way, or post an ad on Craigslist for someone to come take it away.
It’s not just paper files that can bog down your productivity. Did you know that you can increase your computer’s speed by deleting your cookies and temporary internet files? You should also delete junk mail immediately and completely rather than letting it sit in a “deleted items” folder, as it takes up space you could use elsewhere. Additionally, it’s worthwhile to defragment your computers every so often. This simple disc clean will improve the performance of your computers.
If it seems like too much to do, and your time is too valuable to spend clearing out clutter, there are professional de-cluttering services you can find via Google. However you get it done, just make sure that you clear away the clutter every now and again. It will keep your business running at top efficiency.
